Can you please make it clear your point what something wrong you are referring to I had copied pickit3.jar file and extracted it and got several hex file and PK3FW014013.jam file from it(I am using MPLABX V3.20).Work fine for the device family which is originally loaded.
Trying to change the firmware to a different family using XIPE fails. Have you tried doing what I outlined in post 48, by any chance For some reason, MPLAB 8 just might be able to update the PK3 to the right firmware suite, where X cannot. This is my hunch. It worked for me, based on my same issue, per my notes and memory, on my PK3 and clones. At present, I have at least 9 of them; I did testing with the original pre-installed firmware in IPE on at least 1 of every clone and genuine, and I have most of them, and there was this andor other bugs present that were fixed by using 8 to load the latest FW suite imported from X.) There are a lot of other factors to consider. But this is one thing you might want to rule out, if youve turned over all the lighter stones. Yeah, installing 8.92 just in case it might get your PK3 to work is a big pill. You may be familiar with it but just for your kind information, MPLAB 8.92 also doesnt support PIC24FJ256GB406 controller and hence MPLAB8 cant be used for this controller. Later i had tried your final step to uninstall all MPLAB IDE and reinstall newly but this also couldnt troubleshoot the problem. I have already contacted Microchip for support last week and expecting to get reply back from them. I had gone through some of the posts which describes that if programming pins like MCLR are configured as output then this type of problem may cause. Pickit 3 Ing Boot Loader Windows Code And BeenAlthough i havent configured any of programming lines in my source code and been told in past this is not software issue but is there a chance of software creating this problem may be related to configuration bits etc I cant find definitions like CONFIG1 CONFIG2 in p24FJ256GB406.h file so how can i include source code like CONFIG1 (JTAGENOFF BKBUGON ICSPGx1 FWDTENOFF) CONFIG2 (FNOSCFRC) as given in example code at for p24FJ32GA002 device at. Pickit 3 Ing Boot Loader Windows Download The FwThe MPLAB 8 is used just to download the fw suite - for any device; it doesnt matter which one; after which, the device family switching in X could start to work, normally. I personally wanted to see if it would fix your problem, because I am pretty sure from your output window copypastes, this is more or less exactly the same issue I had with 9 out of 10 of my PK3s, even though my software versions are slightly different from yours. It appears like IPE is downloading the new firmware only partway, and some of the old fw suite is not being replaced (old number keeps popping back up in the output window). That is surprising that WinRAR cant do it. PK3s came with fw suite 01.26.xx or 01.28.xx. The only one that sorta halfway worked out of the box with my IPE 2.26 was my one and only Sure Electronics clone that came loaded with 01.29.xx - and this one took 4 tries to connect, each time downloading a little bit more of the fw before failing. ![]() Pickit 3 Ing Boot Loader Windows Series Controller AndIts quite surprising that no one in this forum has used this or similar series controller and faced similar issue. I wanted to at least confirm if this is no where my software related issue in configuration settings etc. I will wait for some time until i get reply from microchip or else i will switch to some other controller. But that would be also a risk if new controller also behaved same. Switched to PIC16F18323 and back did not solved the problem but swiching to PIC24F128DA106 and back to dsPI33EP64GS502 solved. Do you mean to select for e.g. PIC24F128DA106 device so that pickit3 will update PIC24F128DA106 firmware and thereafter i should select for e.g. PI33EP64GS502 device so that pickit3 firmware will be updated with dsPI33EP64GS502 firmware Or you meant to change the controller hardware unit scasis So try to switch to another 16 bit family and back. To get a useful answer, always state which PIC you are using.
